BESPOKEN WORD – Monthly Storytelling & Comedy Soirée launches at PBC

Sunday the 27th of July @ 7:30pm | $12 early bird tickets, $18 general admission
Comedian John Knowles helped launch PBC’s Green Room Theatre with his successful show FourFathers alongside George Catsi’s solo show. John and writer Kate Iselin bring their passion for live storytelling and comedy back to the club with ‘Bespoken Word’, a parlour-style evening of engaging, funny and often poignant stories well told. The first bracket features invited authors performing crafted short stories on a specific theme. Locals are encouraged to speak with Kate if they wish to prepare a story of their own on a future theme.  In the second bracket, John Knowles hosts a live episode of ‘I Can Top That!, his popular storytelling gameshow as heard on ABC 702’s Afternoons with James Valentine. It’s a competitive true-story-telling-slam. Three professional comedians are challenged to tell their funniest actual recollections based on a random audience suggestion and no preparation. Its like The Moth meets Family Feud. The stories are all true. Some will be shocking confessions, others embarrassing, insightful, sweet or just plain hilarious. Come along on the fourth Thursday of every month for a smorgasbord of writing, raconteurs and revelations with an emphasis on laughter.
