Lizzie Flynn, talented folk/pop singer-songwriter from Brisbane, will stage the Sydney launch of her latest album, ‘You and The Open Sky’ at Petersham Bowlo on Thursday 21 September.
She will be accompanied by her band, The Reckoning, tonight featuring special guest, Jess Randall, the amazing fiddle-player from The Crooked Fiddle Band. Joining Lizzie and her band for this special event will also be Terry Serio, Zumpa, Lisa Lazuli, and The Redfern Shanty Club to ensure the night is fast moving and fun!
The wait is nearly over for Lizzie Flynn’s latest album – You and The Open Sky. It’s been an an amazing musical journey with 10 musicians, a string ensemble and 5 recording studios. With a combination of lyrical honesty and charming melodies, Lizzie Flynn has written a suite of 9 songs that blend a little satirical storytelling with a lot of joyful emotion. Lizzie’s show will weave audiences through songs of melodic folk-pop, to toe-tapping country and tender ballads of lessons learnt and love lost.
The Redfern Shanty Club is a raucous, rowdy group that will start the night off and get you singing along happily in no time!
Lisa Lazuli is a storyteller through music: her songs explore the complexities of love and heartache with aching melancholy or razor sharp bite transporting the listener with a captivating, emotive voice and beautifully sympathetic guitar style.
Terry Serio’s warm and gritty songs speak straight from the heart with poetic tales of the land, the circus, of love, loss, addiction and redemption.
And be transported with Zumpa to forgotten Italian fishing villages, moonlit olive groves and a hard life under a hot sun where peasants play music to celebrate life with a fierce sense of humour.
